M2s vs Inverleith 3

Away to Inverleith this weekend, the fixture that still haunts Mike Bunting from last season. 

Quick team talk from Ian with focus on ball retention, trying to remember everything Murray said at training Thursday night! First quarter started quickly with some good passing around the back three. First goal came from Ian tackling their right back driving to the D, the first shot saved by the keeper landing at Murray’s feet, Murray took second shot and deflected in back post by Ross McHarg. 1-0. Inverleith came back with  a goal and nearly a 2nd before the quarter up, which wasn’t given. This spurred us into action to get a second goal quickly in the 2nd quarter, some nice play to Kevin who sent the ball across the goal with Ian slotting away, 2-1. The third goal has to be the best worked team goal seen this season, with even an Inveleith player commenting “now that’s proper hockey” quick short passes from the midfield, leads from the forwards back to midfield and final pass from Lewis to Greg to send the ball home, 3-1.

2nd half started well with a goal from Kev, great ball from Cammy to muz then to Kev in space at the top of the D. 4-1. Inverleith got a couple of goals in this quarter. Murray’s goal came from a solid pass from Lewis with Murray beating keeper easily, 5-3. Ian P got his second goal in this quarter with another good assist from Lewis, this time not next to the goal line and Ian put bottom right to get his second, 6-3. Last quarter saw some short corners which paid off well. Lewis getting a straight strike on goal, 7-3 and final goal came from a p-flick, Lewis stepped up to the mark and slotted away calmly. 8-3. 

A fantastic team performance from all. Great work from our centre back Cammy Scott controlling play and finding space to launch the ball into. The full team all put in great performances ensuring that this game doesn’t haunt Mike B as well.
