M2s beat EU5s 1-0

M2s headed to Peffermill to take on an Edinburgh Uni team that put 7 past them in the same fixture last year. The first quarter was even - FLHC played some nice hockey and created a couple of good chances. The second quarter followed a similar pattern and the deadlock was broken when Kev did a mazy dribble in the centre of the pitch before sending the ball into the D for Michael C to deflect it perfectly off his reverse into the bottom corner looking extremely surprised in the process.

The second half saw EU come on strong and put M2s under a lot of pressure particularly with a high press. However, through combination of excellent defending and surperb saves the lead remained in tact all the way through to final whistle

I think that slots us back into second in the table (ok we have played more fixtures that rest of teams) and now "won" as many games as whole of last season!!

Great team effort and awesome to win a close game

MOM was Kev S who had the ball glued to his stick all day, playing equally well at inner, pivot and centre back. Setting up the goal in first half then pulling off a stunning stop on the line late in the game when it looked like EU had got the equaliser were couple of highlights!

Special mention to Hamish as well who had by far his best game of the season. Some strong tackles, terrific skill and a couple of brilliant struck passes he was a threat to the opposition all game
