Opening game of the season for a new look 3rd XI with the Adams, Cybulski and Gardner making their return to the club after a couple seasons away, Scott Bissell making his league debut along with David Ferguson and Ross Mayberry increasing the squad strength amongst more regular 3rd XI names.
Falkirk started strongly against the Uni side, with early chances being missed. Falkirk kept the pressure on and eventually got the breakthrough from a long corner in the first half. Alastair Gault standing over it played it quickly to a screaming Hamish on the edge of the D who slapped the ball across the goal for Charles MacLeod to tap in giving Falkirk the lead. Falkirk kept the pressure up and earned a stroke for a foot on the line, Uni goalkeeper made a great stop to keep Charles from doubling the score. During the second half the pressure kept building for Falkirk but thanks to Uni having a large squad they were starting to get some joy from fast breaks, the central defensive pairing of Scott Bissell and Arthur Robertson shut most of these down without Uni getting a chance on goal. Falkirk did eventually double their lead as Adam Cybuslki's shot was again stopped by a Uni foot on the line. Up stepped Scott Ferguson this time who made no mistake in slotting the ball home past the Uni keeper.
Rest of the game remained the same with constant pressure from Falkirk and the occasional fast break from Uni, they did eventually get a goal from a fast break after a good block from Paul ball fell to the Uni player to tap in. Uni continued to press but have their goalkeeper to thank for making countless saves to keep the score down and keep them in the game.
Overall, a very dominant performance from this new 3rd XI side with Scott B winning player on the match on his debut for an outstanding defensive display.
